Milking Goats and Making Butters

Mar 13, 2016

Last time we talked about making your own felted soap at home and how to use your soap. If I missed anything you'd like to know, please contact me. I love talking about my goats and soap!  I'm often asked why I chose to buy and breed my own goats and how we started the Bearded Lady Soap Factory. Back in 2006, one of our teenage sons was diagnosed with ADHD and we decided we needed milk that wasn’t processed and that was hormone free. We knew we wanted raw milk, but I wasn’t really interested in milking a cow. Instead,...

How to Use Your Felted Soap Bar

Feb 21, 2016

Last time we discussed how to make felted soap. Since then, I’ve had a few questions about how to use the soap. If I missed anything you'd like to know, please contact me. I love talking about goats and soap! Do I need to remove the felting before I can use the soap? Please don’t! A few years back, a fiber-artist friend introduced me to a neat looking fiber called Blue-Faced Leicester Sheep. She told me that this wool is awesome for felted soap since it’s from ..."a longwool breed of sheep whose curly threadlike wool makes it considerably lighter than others." She knew that once I tried it, I would be...

The Healing Benefits of Goat Milk Lotion

Oct 26, 2014

Dear Bearded Lady, My daughter told me about your Body Butter just before I started radiation following breast cancer surgery.  She lives in Santa Fe but was unable to get the product to me until right after I finished radiation.  I had been doing all right with skin care, but there were a couple of areas that were more burned, and the skin was getting tight and rough, despite my regular applications of doctor-recommended creams and ointments.  Not to mention that the ointment ruined several t-shirts before I figured it out.  Then, my daughter got the Body Butter for me...
